Hundreds dine on all-you-can-eat pizza while students hold a rally.
Avon Lake Homecoming, traditionally the city's biggest weekend, kicked off Oct. 4, with a pizza bake off and bonfire. Hundreds turned out for the Rotary pizza bake off, which was followed by a bonfire in the south lot at the high school. Under the watchful eyes of the Avon Lake Fire Department, a healthy bonfire roared as three football players tossed a life-sized effigy doll adorned with a Westlake Demons t-shirt, horns and devil's beard, into the fire. Check out the band's halftime performance in Thursday's game against Avon
While the Avon Lake High School football team came up short, the Avon Lake Marching Shoremen put on a good show on the field. Their halftime performance included current and past rock and pop hits, and wrapped up with the Avon Lake Alma Mater. Enjoy the show!

Popular band includes Bill Bishop, Kingfish's Joe Toledo
It’s no coincidence that Cleveland is the rock ‘n roll capital. The city is filled with talented musicians who have a real passion for their craft. Avon Lake’s Crazy Chester is one example of a band that has evolved over the years, formed by a group of individuals who gravitated together based on their love for music. The band started in 2008, when musician Bill Bishop and his wife Kelly were introduced to Chip Madigan. “We got to talking about music and how we have similar taste in music, and Chip reveals that he’s a bass player,” Bill Bishop said. “Not only is he a bass player, but he plays the upright bass.
