Not quite an emergency A woman called 911 three times on March 28 to tell Mayfield Heights Police that her laundry had been taken from the laundry room in her apartment building, according to The Plain Dealer. The police offers who responded to the calls said that the woman was drunk and combative when they arrived. They asked her to only call 911 for emergencies and a roommate agreed to look after the woman that evening. The woman ultimately decided not to file a police report. That's not in the job description - A State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) told Cuyahoga Falls police she was solicited for sex while giving hospice care to a person living in the 2800 block of Cedar Hill Road. The incidents occurred between Sept. 1, 2012, and March 18. The Crossroads Hospice worker reported that a man offered her money in return for sexual intercourse when she was providing hospice care to a patient at the patient's residence. She told police she was unsure whether she'd like to prosecute. …

Drugging and driving At 3 p.m. Feb. 25, a 22-year-old North Canton man, reportedly high on keyboard cleaner, crashed his car into a tree. The man reportedly inhaled a 12-ounce aerosol can then passed out and crashed in the 200 block of Roselane Street SW. The process is known as "huffing," where inhalants are used to induce alcohol-like intoxication. The police report did not indicate whether he was treated for injuries. Cheese in Fairlawn called police to report someone was parked outside the exit smoking weed in their car. When the officer arrived, he walked up to the car and stated he could smell marijuana smoke coming out. The officer asked the woman inside, 30, of Akron, if she was smoking weed and she turned over a half-burnt marijuana cigar. Then she gave officers a false name and age. A 34-year-old Lakewood man was charged with drunken driving after he stopping to ask a Solon police officer for directions. At about 1 a.m. on Dec. 8, a Solon police officer parked at a gas station was approached by a man after a car pulled in behind him. Perry L. Allen, 34, approached the officer to get directions to a nearby business. According to the report, Allen smelled like alcohol and had slurred speech. He failed the field …

I wondered about that, too. The report is a bit ambiguous. A .38 on his hip, uncovered and in the open is legal. The first sentence of the report states he was cited for carrying a concealed weapon. I suspect it was either under his shirt or a coat, but still on his hip. If that's the case and he didn't have a ccw license, he broke the law. more ›
