Zegarac’s announcement follows an April 23 one by Bryan Jensen and the April 25 announcement by Ward 3 Councilman Kevin Ward that they are also seeking to fill the seat currently held by Jim Smith, who said he will not seek re-election. "I've had the pleasure of living in an emerging community that has been a special to many,” Zegarac said. “I grew up here, raised my family here and have enjoyed the many amenities of our home town of Avon.” Zegarac, who has lived in Avon more than 50 years…

Monday's City Council meeting was pretty speedy. That's what happens when there aren't enough council members present to pass ordinances. Ward 3 councilman Kevin Ward was unable to get home from New York City because of weather, mayor Jim Smith said. Ward 1 councilman Bryan Jensen had a family emergency, Smith said. Because of the situation, the remaining Council members did a first reading of the ordinances instead of declaring an emergency, suspending rules and voting on the ordinances in the first reading. Among the ordinances held up were approving the collective bargaining agreement between the city and the firefighters' union, and authorizing a developer's agreement with Mercy Regional Medical Center over improvements to Route 611 …
