The final day of 19 Action News' donation drive was held at Levin Furniture in Avon Commons.

Levin Furniture at Avon Commons hosted the final day of 19 Action News’ week-long Share Your Holidays donation drive on Friday. This was a great event. We stopped up and donated some coats and toys. Even though my son is only 1-yr old, I want him to see how important it is to give to others in need.   more ›

Holiday Weekend Blowout of Things to Do

There are so many holiday-inspired events this weekend, we expanded our list!

Mark your calendar while you sip your egg nog.

When I asked John what inspired that, he said that he had seen an ad in the Wall Street Journal about "rethinking Christmas." The idea in the ad, he said, was to give one less present, or to spend less on a present, and give the money you would have spent to charity in that person's name. The ad got him to thinking, he said, and he realized it was something he wanted to do. He's not alone. I've seen stories and websites devoted to the idea of giving fewer presents, and replacing some of the loot …
