Woman Nearly Abducted at Circle K

The following arrest information was provided by the Avon Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A woman had a frightening experience the night of April 30. She told Avon police she was approached at the Circle K by two men around 10:48 p.m. They attempted to force her into their car at gunpoint, the woman said. She got away. Police notified all area businesses, and advised 24-hour businesses on the matter.

Big-Money Mega Millions Ticket Sold in Avon

Are you a bit richer today?

Check your wallet, your purse, your pants pockets, the pile of papers on your desk, because you could be $250,000 richer today! The Associated Press reported Wednesday that, while no one won Tuesday's $37 million Mega Millions drawing, a ticket sold at the Circle K on Chester Road matched five numbers. That's good for a $250,000 payout. The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were 1, 36, 38, 42 and 49, with the Mega Ball number 19 and the Megaplier number 4.

More Pain at the Pump as Gas Prices Climb

Unleaded as high as $3.15 per gallon in Avon

Gas prices took a jump in Avon on Thursday. Most stations around town had unleaded gas priced around $3.15 a gallon.  Pilot Travel Center on Colorado Avenue was at $3.08. The only places in town where gas was below $3 a gallon was at the wholesale clubs. Regular unleaded gas was $2.99 a gallon at BJ's Wholesale Club on Thursday afternoon, and $2.96 a gallon at Costco. Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for the website GasBuddy.com, said this price leap was confined to Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky. This price hike wasn't a response to anything happening on a national or global level. What do those four states have in common? Speedway, DeHaan said.
