Mary Pajak, Citizen of the Year, Takes on Flowers and Bullies

Pajak honored Citizen of the year for involvement in cable and Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club.

Mary Pajak was named Avon Lake’s 2013 Citizen of the Year for her significant involvement in, and dedication to, the community. “Mary Pajak has served this community with true dedication to the residents and to supporting civic organizations in Avon Lake,” Marty O’Donnell, President of the Avon Lake Community Council, who selected Pajak, said. As an active member of the Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club since 1993, Pajak continues to work endlessly in promoting community-wide involvement in conservation, civic planting, outreach and many other projects. Nominations Sought for Citizen, Project of the Year

Avon Lake Community Council will take nominations through March 15.

The Avon Lake Community Council is accepting nominations for the Citizen of the Year and Project of the Year awards for 2012. The Citizen of the Year nominee must be a resident of Avon Lake and should have provided a significant amount of volunteer work to the community. The Project of the Year can be any service, school, city or citizen project that made a significant contribution to the community. In 2012, Linda Moyse was honored as the 2011 Citizen of the Year for her longtime service to Avon Lake, including her help with homecoming festivals and helping pass the pool levy. Assistant Library Director Gerry Vogel and Eagle Scout Connor Musial both earned 2011 “Project of the Year” honors. Vogel authored the book Images of America: Avon …

Three Honored For Volunteer, Projects of the Year: Gallery

Mayor, council president and State Representatives join family and friends at annual Kiwanis dinner.

The Avon Lake Public Library Gallery was packed with family and friends of three honored on May 17 for their work in the community. Linda Moyse , Connor Musial and Gerry Vogel earned Citizen of the Year and Projects of the Year, respectively. They were acknowledged at an Avon Lake Kiwanis Club dinner by the Community Council, which selected the recipients.  Rec. Department employee Lisa Goodwin, who nominated Moyse, called the Citizen of the Year the “savior of the Avon Lake Homecoming Festival,” and former mayor and family friend K.C Zuber spoke of Moyse’s volunteer efforts in the political arena and noted she was an integral part of helping pass the levy for the Aquatic Center. Linda Moyse Named Avon Lake's 'Citizen of the Year'

Longtime volunteer has worked on many projects over the years.

The Avon Lake Community Council named one of Avon Lake’s longest residents and staunchest volunteers, Linda Moyse, this year’s “Citizen of the Year.” “Mrs. Moyse has shown a lifetime commitment for bettering the community and for caring for those who are in need. She is an inspiration to future generations regarding the importance of community involvement,” Marty O’Donnell, President of the Avon Lake Community Council, said. The list of community service projects she has worked on is impressive. Citizens of the Year Find Volunteering Rewarding

Longtime volunteers will be honored at a dinner May 12.

For the second year in a row, two Avon Lake residents with a long history of volunteering have been named 2010 Citizens of the Year by the Avon Lake Community Council. Erma Haverback and Mary Pease are this year’s recipients of the award, which debuted last year. “The two Citizen of the Year winners have shown a lifetime commitment for bettering their community and for caring for those who are in need,” Marty O’Donnell, President of the Avon Lake Community Council, said. “They are an inspiration to future generations regarding the importance of community involvement.” Haverback and Pease and members of the Peter Miller House Museum (Project of the Year) will be honored at a dinner at the Avon Lake Kiwanis Club on May 12.
