Family, Activities the Focus of Avon Lake's Pack 334

Scouts integrate fun with a focus on citizenship.

Expect to see the familiar blue Scouting outfits at numerous fall events in Avon Lake, as Cub Scout Pack 334 gears up for its fall drive—and activities. ‘You will see us in uniform at both the Homecoming and Memorial Day Parades,” Den leader and Leadership Committee member Scott Danniger said.  “We perform Color Guard duties at some of the (Avon Lake) high school basketball games. And we participate in food and clothing collections throughout the year as well.” September is also a big month for the pack. “Our first campout is a ‘Welcome to Scouting’ campout,” Danniger said. “It is held at Walker Road Park in September. We will begin with a Fishing Derby, after we eat, we will have a presentation from the French Creek Nature Center.  We …

Camping! Citizenship! Pinewood Derby! Pack Does It All

Avon’s Pack 333 is looking for a few new members to help it in its endeavors to help others. For year’s the pack, part of Boy Scouts of America and chartered through Avon United Methodist Church, has taken on significant projects. “Earlier this summer, in recognition of National Trails Day on June 2, our youth de-littered a two-mile trail along the Vermillion River at Firelands Scout Reservation in Wakeman,” Pack leader Matt Wendling said. Twice a year, the Pack helps maintain the grounds of its sponsor, Avon United Methodist Church.  Wendling said the almost 100 elementary school boys “can rake the leaves from a yard pretty quickly if properly motivated (with donuts, usually).” Pack 333 counts 98 youths, ranging from first through fifth …

Scouts Lead Pledge of Allegiance at Council Meeting

Two Avon Cub Scouts get the honor

Two Avon Cub Scouts were in charge for a few moments at Monday's meeting of Avon City Council. They got to lead the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance before the meeting got underway at City Hall. Greyson Dietz and Austin Davis of Den 11, Pack 333 led the saying of the Pledge. They were accompanied to the meeting by Den Leader Matt Davis.
