Avon Electric Orchestra Hosting Inaugural Concert Jan. 16

The Avon Electric Orchestra, a brand-new volunteer after-school group, will host its first concert Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Avon High School (AHS) auditorium. The concert will also feature the AHS show choir and the jazz band. The orchestra, formed this semester, is under the direction of the school district’s Jess Martin. “This newly founded group performs many styles including rock, jazz, funk, classical, and fusion,” Martin said. “Two sets of electrical string instruments were purchased this past summer thanks to our Avon Board of Education and Avon Band and Orchestra Boosters.” Members will be performing on electric and acoustic violins, violas, cellos, basses, drums, percussion and guitars.
