Sale will help fund mission trip to Italy
What do winter coats, old blenders and used books have in common? They could all help send eight members of Providence Church to Rome in July on a missionary trip. The church held an indoor garage sale on Thursday, offering deals on everything from vintage furniture to jewelry. Church members donated the goods for sale. Jenny Bzdafka, wife of senior paster Jim Bzdafka and a leader in the children's ministry, was in charge of the sale. The sale is to help fund the travel expenses for the eight people going, including Jenny Bzdafka and two of the couple's grown children. They are going from July 7 to 21. Group members range in age from 21 to 55 years old. While in Rome, the group will work with missionaries Brian and Sarah Bennetch's team to…

But through all of the thousands of items up for grabs, nothing was more unique than the people and what brought them to this event. Jim Duncan, a resident of Avon for 38 years, attended Aunt Teak and Uncle Junque with his family just to get out of…

Are you planning on getting rid of some of your old stuff in a garage sale this weekend? Some of Avon's antique dealers shared some tips on how to succeed. He and Lois began antiquing for fun and ended up acquiring and selling so many items that they decided to open their own business, he said. Currently, they sell antiques dating from as early as the 1800s all the way up through the 1950s, depending on what they find at …
