Gas Prices Are Dropping Again

Trouble in Europe, lower oil costs have effects closer to home.

You might have noticed that gas prices have been sliding downward lately. After creeping up toward $4 a gallon and some experts predicting prices of $5 per gallon and higher, prices are ebbing.  The Associated Press reported that gas prices have dropped about 20 cents in the past couple of weeks and are expected to drop some more. The slowing global economy, especially in Europe, has reduced energy consumption which generally leads to lower prices. According to GasBuddy.com, Ohio is averaging about $3.40 a gallon and trending downward. The Speedway at 32769 Walker Rd. was spotted advertising regular gas at $3.28.9 a gallon Monday morning, according to GasBuddy. The BJ's club at 38292 Colorado Ave. near I-90 was reported selling regular gas…

Avon Gas Prices on the Rise

Given the upcoming holiday weekend, Gasbuddy.com analysts are projecting spikes in gas prices and are encouraging travelers to purchase fuel before Thursday.

The good news is it appears the aftermath of Hurricane Irene won’t impact gas prices in the Midwest; the bad news is Labor Day weekend will.  As of today, gas prices are hovering around $3.68 per gallon in Avon, last week they were $3.52 and going into the holiday weekend they will continue to climb upward, Gasbuddy.com senior petroleum analyst Gregg Laskoski said.  According to Laskoski, a “demand destruction” took effect over last week and this past weekend as gas consumption, transportation and oil production screeched to a halt along the eastern U.S. in preparation of the impending hurricane.  However, as infrastructures continue to go back online along the Atlantic seaboard and with the holiday weekend fast approaching, the demand …

You Said It!

You Said It: How Are Gas Prices Affecting You?

Share your pain at the pump!

Gasoline prices have soared in recent months, getting perilously close to $4 a gallon as unrest in Middle East nations like Egypt and Libya combined with speculation to send  oil prices higher. Many Avon people are feeling the pinch, especially those who have to commute out of town for their jobs and those with kids involved in after-school activities. Filling some tanks is on the other side of $50. So, we're asking you. How much is the price of gas affecting you? Have you changed your spending or driving habits because it costs more to fill up? If prices stay this high or go higher, will it affect things like vacation plans or make you re-think your next car purchase? Do you have any tips for saving money on gas?Tell us in the comments.
