'Support Avon Schools' Meeting is Monday, Sept. 10

Kickoff meeting to support 2.34-mill November levy at Avon Middle School.

The "Support Avon Schools Committee" will host a Bond Issue kick-off meeting on Monday,  Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at Avon Middle School. “There has been a small group of people working to organize a campaign effort to support issue 31, a no new tax rate bond issue to build a new middle school,” Superintendent of Schools Mike Laub said via email. “We expect a larger number of volunteers to attend the meeting Monday.” Attendees will hear the details surrounding the issue, what the plan is to campaign and then have the opportunity to sign up to help.   “There are several subcommittees and we are hoping to get as many people involved as possible,” Laub said. In Lorain County, Absentee Ballots Must Be Requested

Process is easy, but deadlines apply.

Absentee voting in Lorain County begins on Oct. 4, and registered voters can now request an absentee ballot application from the Lorain County Board of Elections. As Dave Stambol, a clerk with the Board of Elections explains, obtaining an absentee ballot is easy, and voters can avoid bad weather and long lines by utilizing the county’s absentee balloting system. Unlike some states, such as Connecticut, which requires voters to meet specific requirements such as being an active military service member, out of town during polling hours or you’re sick or physically disabled, Ohio does not require a reason to use an absentee ballot. “Anyone can request one,” Stambol said. “It’s a no-fault absentee ballot.” In Lorain County, registered voters …
