Loads of Eagles on AP All-District Football Team
Mike Elder also named Coach of the Year
The Associated Press NE Lakes All-District Division II Football Team has a strong Avon presence this year. Ten Eagles players were named to the team, led by quarterback Justin O'Rourke, the Offensive Player of the Year and first-team quarterback. Eagles coach Mike Elder, who has guided the Eagles to an 11-1 record, was named Coach of the Year. Joining O'Rourke on the first team were Ross Douglas (running back), Matt Eckhardt (receiver), Greg Harrison (tight end), Brad Young (kicker), Matt Tomlin (linebacker), Jacob Mullins (defensive back) and Adam Horrocks (punter). Ryan Byrne (offensive lineman) and Jeremiah Burris (defensive lineman) were named to the second team. Avon faces Tiffin Columbian at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the OHSAA Division II …
