Larry Laird Named New ALHS Football Coach
Replaces Dave Dlugosz, who retired last year
Former Avon Lake High School assistant football coach Larry Laird was approved as football coach by the Avon Lake Board of Education Jan. 8. He is replacing 21-year coach Dave Dlugosz, who retired in 2012 after winning 200 football games. “He left a couple of years ago to (be the head coach at) Medina and did a fine job down there,” Avon Lake Superintendent of Schools Bob Scott said. Laird, 44, became the Medina High School head football coach in 2010, leading the Battling Bees to a 9-3 record before returning to Avon Lake.
