Scott Gibson injured in I-90 crash
The Avon man flown by emergency helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland following a two-car crash on Interstate 90 Tuesday afternoon is home. Scott Gibson, 40, was treated and released from MetroHealth on Tuesday evening, said a MetroHealth spokesperson on Wednesday. According to Avon police, Gibson was driving his 1996 Ford Ranger on I-90 westbound just before the Route 611 exit when he struck a 1995 Ford Escort parked in the breakdown lane. The owner of the Escort, Michael Veninshek, 53, of Sheffield Lake, had walked away from the car moments before the crash and was not hurt. Both cars went off the road and down an embankment. How do accidents like this happen? They are not uncommon -- car hits vehicle parked well off the road. Was the driver texting, eating, sleeping, or just not paying attention?
