Having a Birthday in 2013? Longtime Pair Celebrating With 'Big Birthday Blow Out'

Couple will blow out 125 candles on cake, celebrating two birthdays, public welcome

Do you have a January birthday? Or a birthday sometime in 2013? Then you’re invited to your celebration! Two longtime Avon Lake residents are celebrating “big” birthdays this month and want to invite friends, family and “anyone having a birthday this year' to join in the fun at Kenilworth II on Jan. 12. Terry and Sheila Hartsel, owners of Hartsel’s Automotive have birthdays this month. Terry is turning 65 and Sheila is turning 60. "Terry had a birthday party when he was 60,” Sheila said. “I haven't had one since I was 7. I have not wanted to admit my real age until this year, haha.' The couple plans on buying a sheet cake and putting 125 candles on for the pair’s combined years on earth. “We’re calling this The Big Birthday Blow Out, …

Avon Lake's Top Place for St. Patrick's Day Is...

Sally's gets half the votes

Sally’s West Shore Pub is the runaway favorite in our Readers’ Choice polling for best place to spend St. Patrick’s Day in Avon Lake. The restaurant, near the west end of town earned 51 percent of the votes. The Irish Heritage Club earned second place followed by the Kenilworth II. Enjoy a spectacularly beautiful St. Patrick’s Day and be sure to stay sober if you’re driving.
