Avon Lake Lifeguard Helped in Huntington Rescue

An Avon Lake High School 2011 graduate was on hand to help rescue two swimmers at Huntington Beach on Monday. News Channel 5 reported that 9-year-old Diamond Harris and 46-year-old Laura Recco were in the water needing help around 10:44 a.m. Monday. Christian Pesarchick, a 2011 Avon Lake High School alumnus, was a seasonal lifeguard on duty at the time. Channel 5 said Pesarchick needed some assistance in the rough water as well. "I'm proud of him; he jumped in and saved two people," said his father, Mark Pesarchick. The elder Pesarchick said he didn't think Christian Pesarchick needed to be rescued himself.
