Man Taken By LifeFlight in June Facing Felony Charges from Accident

May face felony charge of aggravated vehicle assault after passenger injured.

A man taken by LifeFlight June 27 after a car he was in collided with a semi-truck, has been charged with aggravated vehicle assault, a felony, in the incident. Dustin Stephens of Colorado Avenue in Avon was recently bound over to the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas to answer charges of aggravated vehicle assault, a 3rd degree felony as well as operating a vehicle while under the influence (OVI), OVI/drugs and reasonable control after Avon Police finished their investigation of the incident. Initial charges brought in the Avon Lake Municipal Court will be presented to the Lorain County Grand Jury for action. 9-Year-Old Avon Lake Boy Struck By Car

The boy was chasing a ball into the road. He has been flown to MetroHealth for treatment of serious injuries.

Avon Lake Fire Chief Glen Eisenhardt said a 9-year-old child was struck by a vehicle earlier today and taken by Metro Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center. A press release issued by Avon Lake Police Lt. Duane Streator said the 9-year old boy was struck by a car on Deer Run Lane at 12:09 p.m.  Nov. 6. A source at MetroHealth Medical Center said the boy, Noah Venesile, was in critical condition. No additional information was available from the hospital. Responding personnel found the boy in the road  with serious injuries. The unnamed boy was attended to by the Avon Lake Fire Department paramedics and taken to the Avon Lake Fire Department where they were met by Life Flight.  He was then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland …

Big Fun, Big Crowd at Big Trucks

The annual Big Trucks event drew a big crowd and the Metro Life Flight.

More than 1,000 parents and kids came to the Avon Lake Safety Center, home of the city's police and fire departments, to get a first-hand look at a variety of trucks Sept. 25. Children were able to climb on and into a variety of safety force vehicles including police and fire trucks, SWAT vehicles, jet skis, Coast Guard and Army vehicles, the Lorain County HazMat vehicle and a variety of cleaned up city service vehicles such as wood chippers and tree trimmers. The city, with the help of the Avon Lake Preschool PTA, hosted a free lunch and both the police and fire stations were opened for tours. The annual event was topped off with the arrival of MetroHealth's Life Flight helicopter which arrived from the Lorain County airport after being …
