Snapshot: Parade Prepping for Memorial Day

Avon Lake's City Pool to Open on Saturday

Pool pass application hours also extended

The Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center will open this Memorial Day weekend.  Avon Lake residents can do some laps, spring off the high board, twist and turn down the big blue slide, or just take a cool and refreshing dip between the hours of 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 26; Sunday, May 27; and Monday, May 28.  Weather permitting, the pool, located in Bleser Park, will remain open during the week from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. fro May 29 – June 1.  Beginning Saturday, June 2, the pool will begin its regular summer hours – Monday thru Friday, 1 p.m. – 8 p.m., and weekends from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. To allow citizens to better enjoy the benefits of Pool Passes – which include saving some serious cash over the course of the summer, and to simply ‘scan …

Avon Lake Readies For Memorial Day Parade, Ceremonies

Avon Lake enjoys a slice of Americana this Monday.

As is the tradition, Avon Lake will again host extensive Memorial Day ceremonies including a parade, and ceremonies at the Avon Lake Cemetery and Folger Home. The weather is expected to cooperate with temperatures in the high 80s and no rain in the forecast.  Wear your red, white and blue to the parade and ceremonies at the Folger Home traditionally bring out thousands to the area by the high school and Veterans Park.  Here’s the Memorial Day schedule:  8 a.m. Post 211 Ceremony at the Post  The Post 211 Memorial Service will be on the Post back patio (on Walker Road) include opening remarks by the Post Commander, flag raising, the “Salute the Dead,” three volley fires and Taps.  9 a.m. Memorial services at Lakeshore (Avon Lake) Cemetery …
