Miss Greater Cleveland Starring in Oklahoma!

Meggie Wittman, the reigning Miss Greater Cleveland, has a major role in this year's Mighty Goliath Production.

Attendees at this year’s production of MGP’s Oklahoma! will have a chance to see some Cleveland royalty when the crowned Miss Greater Cleveland (Miss America) takes the stage in this year's production, Oklahoma! Meg Wittman, crowned last August, and who will compete this June for the Miss Ohio title, is playing the part of Laurey, the love interest of Curly McLain (played by Avon Lake's Jerry Popiel).  “The main thing I love about her is she doesn’t take flack from anyone,” Wittman said. “Her spunk is what drew me to her.” Okalahoma!, which opens Feb. 8 at the Performing Arts Center at Avon Lake High School, is only one of several productions Wittman has been in recently, although MGP, the all volunteer production that supports the Avon …

Oklahoma! MGP Production Opens Feb. 8, Ian Atwood Directs

One of Avon Lake’s longest-standing traditions, Mighty Goliath Productions, is celebrating its 54th year with Rodger and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, which opens Feb. 8. MGP, a musical theatre company, contributes funds toward the performing arts programs of the Avon Lake City Schools and has donated more than $210,000 in proceeds. The all-volunteer production, performed at Avon Lake High School’s Performing Arts Center is one of the most popular productions held each year. Previous productions have included Titanic, Annie, Sound of Music and Oliver. This year, Ian Atwood will by directing. He and his wife Jessica (also the choreographer) will be producing. MGP Celebrating 200th Birthday of Dickens with "Oliver"

Douglas Brill will make his directorial debut

Mighty Goliath Productions is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens with the production of Oliver starting on Feb. 10 at Avon Lake High School’s Performing Arts Center. The musical is being directed by Avon Lake attorney Douglas Brill and is being produced by Lynn Maslinski and Fiona Walker. The cast includes 86 members, which includes 26 family members .Twenty-five musicians will be playing in the orchestra. Oliver features musical classics such as "Food, Glorious Food," "I'd Do Anything," "Where is Love?" "Consider Yourself," "As Long As He Needs Me," and "Who Will Buy." Oliver is based on Charles Dickens' moving tale of Oliver Twist, an orphan boy who escapes from the orphanage only to end up in the company …
