Life As A 20-Something

Dear People: Get That Butt Up and Moving

It's not too late to get involved in a little activity to keep your body moving

Dear Workouts: You’ve gotten a little stale. My regular three-mile loop keeps me strong, healthy and able to binge on burgers and Jeni’s ice cream on occasion (which I may or may not have done this weekend) without making me feel like I’ve done serious damage. Maybe it’s the lack of satisfying music on my iPod. I’d download some, but my computer wheezed its last breath a few weeks ago. And even though I’ve found a gym, I refuse to fork over my hard-earned paycheck until it’s too cold to run outside. So until then, I’m doing ‘Bootcamp,’ a 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday plyometric and cardio workout led by Boyfriend’s sister, a Miami University exercise science alumna, at her house. Miami U's "Cheezies" Glee Club Returns to Avon Lake May 13

Friday's performance at ALHS marks second year in a row for the performance. Three members are from Avon Lake.

Miami University’s premier male a cappella group, the Cheezies, are returning to Avon Lake on Friday, May 13 from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. as part of the group’s spring tour. The Avon Lake Merples, the high school's elite 16 a capella group, will be joining the Cheezies.  On May 10, the group will sing the National Anthem at the Cleveland Indians' game. The group played in Avon Lake last May to rave reviews. This year’s group has 14 members, including three former Avon Lake High School Merples. Colin Atherton, CJ Blankenship and Chris Walsh are part of this year’s Cheezies.   “CJ, Colin, and I were all members of the Merples and the Chorale at ALHS,” Walsh said. Seven Avon Students Earn Academic Honors at Miami

Students make Dean's, President's Lists

Seven students from Avon made the Dean's or President's Lists for the fall 2010 semester at Miami University. Six students made the Dean's List at the Oxford, Ohio, school and one made the President's List. Students on the Dean's List must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying at least 12 credit hours of classes. Students on the President's List must have at least a 4.0 grade point average while carrying at least 12 credit hours of classes. Claire Huller made the President's List. Making the Dean's List were Chelsey Jayne Judge,  Alexandra Leigh Levine, Marissa Erin Gerdes, Jennifer Blaire Smola, Leah Rae Deppert and Celeste Natalie Alverez.
