If It Were Up to Avon and Avon Lake, Mitt Romney Would be President

Take a look at the tallies for each precinct in Avon and Avon Lake — did your section of town vote Republican or Democrat?

Barack Obama won the national vote and he won in Ohio. But, if Avon and Avon Lake alone decided the next president of the United States, Mitt Romney would be the winner.  According to unofficial results from the Lorain County Board of Elections, 1810 more Avon voters said "yes" to Romney than Obama who was re-elected Nov. 6, 2012; in slighly more populated Avon Lake that number was 2287. Both cities traditionally support Republican candidates, and Election 2012 was not different. In Avon, 4654 voted for Obama and 6464 voted for Romney. A total of 102 people voted for neither, with the Libertarian Johnson/Gray ticket earning 82 votes. Romney received more votes than Obama in every precinct except Ward 2-B and 2-C. From my casual observations Nick, it would appear that there is plenty of anger from your side of the isle. I seem to remember plenty of liberals threatening to move out of the country if W won. Weren't there more than a few on social media threatening to riot is Mitt won? Lastly, Nick, why is it always about race? Wouldn't we all be better off if we considered ourselves Americans first?   more ›
