Firment Chevrolet Teams Up With Scouts, Companies for Derby

Standing room only as the corporate world takes on the Scouts...and fails

Six area Chambers of Commerce, including the North Coast Chamber of Commerce - which supports Avon and Avon Lake, banded with the recently opened Joe Firment Chevrolet in Avon for the Race to Scouting Corporate Pinewood Derby Race. The “Power of More” consortium made up of six area Chambers and Joe Firment Chevrolet in Avon participated in the event that drew support from local businesses and families to benefit kids of Scouting. In the end, it was Pack 334 who took the honors, besting every corporate racing car. A block of wood, four nails, a set of plastic wheels and some childhood creativity is all that is needed for a cub scout to compete in the pine wood derby race. Family, Activities the Focus of Avon Lake's Pack 334

Scouts integrate fun with a focus on citizenship.

Expect to see the familiar blue Scouting outfits at numerous fall events in Avon Lake, as Cub Scout Pack 334 gears up for its fall drive—and activities. ‘You will see us in uniform at both the Homecoming and Memorial Day Parades,” Den leader and Leadership Committee member Scott Danniger said.  “We perform Color Guard duties at some of the (Avon Lake) high school basketball games. And we participate in food and clothing collections throughout the year as well.” September is also a big month for the pack. “Our first campout is a ‘Welcome to Scouting’ campout,” Danniger said. “It is held at Walker Road Park in September.
