Avon Lake is considering a one-day permit to allow wine sampling and sales at the Avon Lake Wine Festival.
It’s not a done deal: serving and drinking alcohol in a city park. City leaders are looking for feedback on whether residents think this is a good idea. Sales and tasting of 2 oz. samples, and sales of full, unopened bottles of wine are expected to be part of a fist ever city-supported wine festival in the park. Make your views of school district heard
If you couldn't make one of the public forums to discuss hiring a new schools superintendent this week, you can still make your views known to Avon Local Schools. The district has posted a poll on its website. The 22-question poll should take between five and 10 minutes to complete. In addition to the multiple-choice survey questions, there are also five questions where you can write in comments.

Have a poll suggestion? Send it to Lori.Switaj@gmail.com (and let’s keep it civil). Here’s this weeks poll and options. Head over to Facebook and vote. And while you're there, give us a "like." I'm a bit torn on this! If it is run properly and is a true sampling and sale, then my opinion is it should be allowed. I would think the "intent" of the law is to now allow parties or festivals with alcohol where folks traditionally get out of hand. If you've ever been to a wine tasting show, that is very rarely the case. On the other hand, the law is the law and the ordinance is in place. Tough…   more ›
