Roy Flury, Member of Al Koran Shrine

Past Master of Covenant Lodge F.&A.M.

Roy J. Flury, 74, of Avon has passed away. He was the devoted husband of Arlene M. (nee Kenyeres) for 49 years; dear brother of the late Lawrence J. Flury (Roseann); loving uncle of Charley (Pam), Nancy Pailes (Rick) and Lori Gabram (Doug); great uncle of Michelle, Mike, Danny, Scotty, Sarah and Connor. Roy was Past Master of Covenant Lodge F.&A.M., and a member of Al Koran Shrine and the Jesters. He worked for Lubrizol Corp. for 34 years as a chemical engineer. He was a grateful recipient of a lung transplant from University Hospital four years ago. A Masonic memorial services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6:30pm at the Daniel L. Viewfinder: Avon Lake Homecoming Parade and Festival

Weather doesn't hamper weekend events

Despite wind, rain and chilly temperatures, small crowds lined the streets to enjoy the Avon Lake Homecoming parade on Saturday morning. Avon Lake residents of all ages lined the streets for the annual homecoming parade, which featured not only the court but also the fire department, boys scouts, fancy cars and even the Shriners.  Despite temperatures that were in the upper 40's, kids seemed to have a good time picking up candy that was being thrown to them. Following the parade, revelers moved indoors at the Avon Lake High School to enjoy the annual Homecoming festival. In additon to the parade there was also a bazarre held inside the school gymnasium.
