Have a snowman worthy of showing off? Upload it.
Back-to-back snowfalls, including a minor-league blizzard, means plenty of snow on the ground for making snowmen. Mark Tomanek and Kristen Giardino, both of Avon Lake, were busy making this massive 9-foot tall (so far) snowman on the corner of Lear Road and Grove Street in Avon Lake, making it one of the largest built this season. The pair said they began making it on Friday. Other snowmen have now been added, including an Avon Eagle. Do you have a picture worthy snowman? We don’t discriminate, show off your snowman whether it’s pretty…or pretty ugly.

Blizzard could arrive by Wednesday morning to Cleveland area. Adjust travel plans accordingly.
UPDATE: 1 PM: Avon Lake Mayor Greg Zilka has enacted a parking ban for all city streets. Plows need to be able to move through streets, unobstructed. ‘Tis the season…for snow. The blizzard warning in effect from 7 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26 to 7 a.m. EST Thursday, Dec. 27. Lorain and Cuyahoga counties are included in the warning. Accidents, cars off road were just some of the issues.
Avon's police department didn't get much of a break as the snowstorm moved through the area. Two cars spun out off I-90 west near mile marker 154 around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday. Both cars went into the ditch. One was gotten out with a tow truck, the other needed a winch. No one was hurt. Two cars needed to be winched out in an accident around 7:28 p.m. at the intersection of Route 83 and Wyndemere way. Kyle Loomis was cited for improper backing. Another accident happened around 12:53 p.m. Tuesday in the 36400 block of Mills Road. The driver of car heading west on Mills Road swerved when the Chevy Blazer ahead of it slowed down, but its brake lights weren't working. The car slid off the road and into a mailbox, suffering minor damage. No one was …

As we move on from "Snowmaggedon" to "Snowtorious B.I.G." when it comes to describing winter weather, Avon residents prepared for what is likely to be a nasty Tuesday night and Wednesday. Avon Local Schools are closed on Wednesday. If you took any photos of today's winter wonderland, share them in our photo gallery here. The National Weather Service in Cleveland still has a winter storm warning in effect through 7 p.m. Wednesday. There was a respite in the precipitation much of Tuesday morning until around 2 p.m., when snow began to fall, which later mixed with icy pellets. Freezing rain is supposed to fall Tuesday night, and may mix with snow and sleet. Ice could accumulate up to half an inch, with another inch of snow and sleet. Warmer …
Ice is not nice to power lines
With the outlook for freezing rain Tuesday into Wednesday, ice could build on power lines, causing outages. If that happens, it may take a while before FirstEnergy can restore power to everyone. Power outages in winter bring their own dangers. Here are some tips to stay safe if the power goes out.

City law designed to keep roads clear
While we didn't get the upwards of 2 feet of snow some places in the Northeast got, Avon residents still have some snow to clear from driveways and walkways. Just be careful where you, or your snow removal company, puts the snow. It's against the law in Avon to put cleared snow out into the street. Avon Codified Ordinance 4511.74 states: "No person shall cause to be deposited or moved upon the main traveled portion of a street, highway or alley any snow or ice. Removal of snow or ice from public or private property by a person shall be done in such a manner as not to interfere with the lawful use of the street, highway or alley by vehicular traffic." Anyone caught putting cleared snow into the street could be charged with a first-degree …

UPDATED: Another one to three inches of snow is expected across the Avon area Wednesday as Tuesday's snowstorm winds down with a bout of lake effect snow. The National Weather Service in Cleveland has a winter weather advisory in effect until midnight Thursday. The advisory was originally set to end at 4 p.m. Wednesday, but was extended around 2:40 p.m. The Ohio Department of Transportation was reporting "moderate" ice and snow conditions on roadways throughout Lorain County and western Cuyahoga County. Avon Local Schools are open Wednesday, and Wednesday night's Avon High School home girls basketball game against Amherst Steele is still on. A chance of snow remains in the forecast every day into early next week, with highs in the upper …
