Avon and Avon Lake school districts say testing dates force earlier spring break.
If you're looking to plan spring break for the 2013-14, here's a heads up. Local districts are not scheduling them for Easter week that year. The Avon and Avon Lake school districts has opted to move spring break for the 2013-14 year away from the traditional Easter weekend to avoid conflicts with Ohio Achievement Testing that year “We typically have a spring break aligned with the Easter holiday,” AvonSuperintendent of Schools Mike Laub said. Spring break will start on March 24, 2014, which marks the end of the third quarter. Easter is on April 20. School's out until April 16!
After classes end at Avon Local Schools today, Spring Break begins! And it's a long one. Classes resume on April 16. If you celebrate the Easter holiday, this weekend's covered. School levy talk, heart health screening and Holy Week
Combine fun and safety at the Seventh Annual Child Safe Community Day Fair from 1 to 4 p.m. April 17 in Strongsville. In addition to games, face-painting and other fun, kids can also learn about safety and how to handle themselves in emergencies. Admission is free. Get the scoop on the Avon Local Schools renewal levy that's on the May 3ballot. The levy support committe will hold an informational meeting at 7 p.m. April 18 at Avon Branch Library. Detroit Road restaurant will be closed for a little less than two weeks
Looking for a chicken paprikash fix? Get it soon, or you're out of luck until May. Helen & Kal's, the Detroit Road restaurant specializing in comfort food and Hungarian classics like the aforementioned chicken paprikash and goulash, is closing from April 22 through May 3. Owner Kal Birkas said he and his family are taking their annual spring vacation.

It might not be Cabo, but this spring break will help break up the monotony.
Who’s ready for spring break?! Me, too. But there’s one problem…I don’t get one anymore. It seems that every college student (and high school student) I know is preparing for a spring break trip. Their Facebook statuses boast countdowns to Cozumel and their Twitter accounts proclaim declarations of diets. But you won’t find me in a bikini anytime soon, unless Williamstown, KY experiences a heat wave next weekend.
