Oklahoma! MGP Production Opens Feb. 8, Ian Atwood Directs

One of Avon Lake’s longest-standing traditions, Mighty Goliath Productions, is celebrating its 54th year with Rodger and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, which opens Feb. 8. MGP, a musical theatre company, contributes funds toward the performing arts programs of the Avon Lake City Schools and has donated more than $210,000 in proceeds. The all-volunteer production, performed at Avon Lake High School’s Performing Arts Center is one of the most popular productions held each year. Previous productions have included Titanic, Annie, Sound of Music and Oliver. This year, Ian Atwood will by directing. He and his wife Jessica (also the choreographer) will be producing. 'Homeruns for Hunger' Supports CRS

June 23 baseball game will feature Lake Erie Crushers against Traverse City Beach Bums

Avon/Avon Lake Community Resources Services (CRS) is hosting the the 3rd Annual “Homeruns For Hunger” event on Thursday, June 23 at All-Pro Freight Stadium in Avon. The Lake Erie Crushers will take on the Traverse City Beach Bums. The baseball game starts at 7:05 p.m. CRS is a local non-profit agency dedicated to meeting the social service needs of the Avon and Avon Lake communities. Ticket vouchers are $9 each and for every voucher sold, the Crushers will donate $3 to CRS. Avon Lake High School Presents "Children of Eden"

The popular musical is based on the first nine chapters of Genesis

The Avon Lake Drama Club is presenting Children of Eden April 14-17 in the Avon Lake High School Performing Arts Center.   The play, under the direction of Patricia Frank, is a family musical journey that takes the audience through the first nine chapters of the Book of Genesis. The high school's presentation offers an assault of color, from the stages backdrop to sapphire blue ribbons that drop from the ceiling above the stage--and audience. Audiences shouldn't be surprised to see cast members dancing down the aisles or across the front row of seats.  At a dress rehearsal Tuesday night, students rehearsed the dozens of songs that will be performed throughout the night from solos to full ensembles (see video).  More than 60 drama club …
