Tell Us How You'd Fill This Storefront: The Former Tucky’s

What type of business would work here?

Last week we asked readers what they would like to see in the spot that formerly housed Tops Market. It is one of the city’s longest-standing – and most obvious – empty buildings. And you responded. We had more than 60 comments on what type of business would work in the large spot. Readers also shared plenty of reasons and blame as to why the building has been empty for so long. This week we’re moving to the Giant Eagle/Learwood Plaza where one of the newest vacancies is, the former Tucky’s building. Some history about the building. The two business that preceded Tucky’s were both coffee houses: Arabica and bean. It may be a good assumption that this location would not be ideal for a coffee house. How about a donut store? Consignment shop…

First they need to cut down the "Big Mound" in front of the building for better visibility. Next, I have heard that the rents are outrageous their and finally they need to put a fast food type of "Meals To Go" for all the baby boomers who don't have the time to cook, so they can pickup dinner on the way home for their families.   more ›

Tell Us: What Would You Like To See In the Tops Building?

Tell us in the comments what you would like to see in the vacated Tops space.

Editor's Note: Periodically, Avon Lake Patch will feature a vacated store and ask what you would like to see in the space. Readers can add suggestions in the comments' section. It’s Avon Lake’s most glaring vacancy. Since 2006 the Tops store in Avon Lake’s Towne Center has stood vacant, and as the year’s have passed, numerous other stores in the plaza have also closed. The store, owned by Kopf Properties, has approximately 58,000 square feet. We’re asking readers, what would you like to see in this space? A recreation center? A second supermarket (Giant Eagle is currently the only one in town)? Share your idea below about what type of business you would like to see in this vacant property.

One thing I find myself going to other towns for is a restaurant with a good salad bar. We have none. Not even in Avon that I'm aware? It doesnt have to be a whole "buffet" where you get people hog-tied for cheap, but a Ruby Tuesday's maybe? I also like the idea of just bulldozing it and putting in another housing development. Not like another Ventanas...but more like the upper-middle type homes …   more ›
