New Community Pool in Avon Will Likely Start This Year

Pool would be located on city property behind fire station

He took two weeks off and it’s back to the grindstone. Just weeks after the Dec. 20 opening of the I-90 Interchange, Avon Mayor Jim Smith said his city’s administration will begin reviewing pool plans within the next several months. Plans are still very preliminary, but Smith said that a new pool will not require a new tax. “It’s still too early to say what it will look like,” Smith said. “We’ll know in a couple months what we want. We’re going to get different looks at a pool. “We’ll be looking at the site and hopefully start building this year and have it ready (in 2014). “It won’t take long to build. Mr. Flannery hit a good point. The city has other issues like flooding an roads that need repair and should be fixing these issue before we get a pool. But that's ok I am sure we will all see tax increases to address these issues. Avon has a pool at the Y that can be used 12 months throughout the year.
