I-90 Reopened After Interchange Construction Worker Killed
Westbound I-90 was closed between Crocker Basset and SR 83.
Updated 2:44 p.m. An interchange construction worker struck by an SUV on I-90 this morning has died, according to the Avon Fire Department. Avon Fire Lt. Eric Dudziak confirmed the 63-year old construction worker was pronounced dead at the hospital. His name has not yet been released. Avon Interchange project manager Don Damyanic said the man struck was working on the new interchange at Lear-Nagle road, which is expected to open later this year. “I believe he was working on the bridge,” Dudziak said. The man was struck at approximately 9:15 a.m. and taken to the hospital. Dudziak said two vehicles were involved. “One hit the other,” he said. I have good information that says cel phone was not an issue. The speed limit is 65 in that area of construction. ODOT says they don't lower the speed if the construction zone is less than a 3 mile stretch. This whole thing is tragic and I pray for the construction worker but I also pray for the person driving as he/she was forced into the barrels by someone changing lanes and did not notice them…   more ›
