Best Outdoor Patio: This Week’s Readers’ Choice

Besides your backyard, tell us what restaurant has the best dining outdoors.

The weather is shaping up for outdoor dining with family and friends. Eating outdoors is a great way to welcome in summer while enjoying a good meal and relaxing. We’ve got to take advantage while we can — in Northeast Ohio, there only seems to be a few months to enjoy an outdoor patio. This week's Readers' Choice focuses on the Best Outdoor Patio. Beginning today — Sunday, May 13 — and through 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, we'll be asking for your recommendations for places to go with outdoor patios. Give us your recommendation in the comments section below. With your help, we'll put together a list of nominees. Then look for our poll on Thursday, May 17 and vote! We'll select a winner at 5 p.m. Friday, May 18 and announce it in a story on …

TWO BUCKS!! Great atmosphere and a fun environment. Plenty of seating on the patio and the open garage door can give customers inside a taste of what's outside!!   more ›

Vote for Avon's Top Spot for Breakfast

Where do you like to start the day?

There's nothing like a good breakfast. Whether it's a simple bowl of oatmeal or a stack of fluffy pancakes with bacon, breakfast can set the tone for the rest of the day. Some people like to grab breakfast on the go. Others like the idea of a more leisurely breakfast where others do the cooking and pour the coffee. Over the past few days, we've gathered nominations for Avon's favorite breakfast spot. The nominees are Panera Bread, Perkins, Subway and IHoP. When judging, we'll consider votes in the poll, comments, and reviews in each restaurant's Patch Places page. Check the PDF attached here for complete rules. We'll select a winner after 5 p.m. on Friday and announce it in a story on Saturday.

I like Bob Evans. I usually get my breakfast nice and hot. Too many restaurants make their hash browns and bacon ahead and it is served luke warm. Their coffee could be better.   more ›

Family-Friendly Dining: This Week's Readers' Choice

Your comments wanted: Where do you take kids out to eat?

Thinking of taking the family out to dinner? Have young kids? You're going to want to know if the restaurant is family-friendly. This is the place where they have crayons and coloring books for impatient diners ... where the wait staff gives you extra napkins -- unasked ... where there's no gasps when glasses invariably get knocked over or food falls on the floor. Where they have high chairs, booster seats and budget-conscious prices. Beginning today -- March 19 -- and through 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, we'll be asking for your recommendations of the best places to take the family out to eat. Give us your recommendation in the comments section below. With your help, we'll put together a list of nominees. Then look for our poll on Thursday…

Our two were teens when we discovered Casita del Lago, but there always seem to be families with young children there. The owners have 3 young girls, so they know about families. The salsa is always freshly made and comes right away with chips. The food is not Tex-Mex spicy unless you want it to be, and they have more vegetarian choices than any other restaurant.   more ›
