What if? What if? What if? What if we did nothing at all because there wasn't 1 good answer? I don't have kids in the school system... I did vote YES on the levy and will do whatever I can to ensure that kids in the community remain safe. Putting an officer in the building doesn't solve ALL problems.. but it sure helps.

Also, I'm not familiar with this 'buzzer' system but can't imagine that it helps anyone feel safe. That said, I would venture a guess that there are many other technological solutions that could be in place to enhance the safety in schools. As for 'budgetary concerns' I'd have to imagine the school systems put safety first. If that's the case, it should be a no brainer.... at least in the immediate future. If that's not the case, then there is a greater debate here about the school's priorities. Also, there are integration capabilities that Facebook/Twitter allow for people to pull data through their open API. The school system could use this technology to look for key 'alarm' words in order to learn about threats and possibly derail them before they ever occur. With that, I think threats (no matter how they are delivered - in person, on the internet, etc) should be met with jail time.

Also... while using true manpower is a realistic option, I don't think anyone should discount technological solutions that may cost more up front.. but pay themselves off in the future. Schools are institutions just like prisons. The people in those places there for far different reasons BUT don't our children deserve the same protection as our inmates? Bulletproof doors or safety zones where kids can truly 'lock down' and be safe is not out of the question in my mind. The chances of something like this happening in Twinsburg are the same as Chardon and Newtown. I pay my car insurance every month b/c I can't predict the future.

Agree 100%. All schools should have only one entry point into the building which is monitored at all time via A) a camera that feeds into the office and B) a police officer who's packing heat.

Murphy you are right about that! He definitely understand the link between superstar players and putting butts in the seats. I hope he takes care of Season Ticket holders. Perhaps discounted beef jerky and gas discounts and Pilot Travel Centers? (j/k) Seriously though, if he can enhance the gameday experience for season ticket holders, I'd likely make a run at season tickets. which I something I would have never even considered under the Lerner family.

Tom - I agree, I think Pat Shurmur could potentially save his job if he wins a handful more games this year. However, we all know that isn't the going to be the most likely scenario. Guess we'll have to see, we definitely have some winnable games left. This week against the Colts, the Chargers are also beatable... the Steelers aren't scaring anyone this year and the Ravens are beat up on Defense. Keep in mind, we almost beat them in Baltimore when they were healthy! I feel like this team really is on the verge of a winning season.

Jack, very interesting perspective. I think it's funny that you stopped watching the Browns because the Lerner family didn't seem to care. I wish I would've done the same, it's been a lot of painful seasons. I agree with your outlook on Haslam. He says ALL the right things. I really like that he always talks about his greatest assets being the 'people' and I think he really gets it! Only time will tell...

Joe - you bring up a great point on Heckert. Whether you love him or hate him as a fan - if they have decided he is out the door, they best do it now. Bring in whoever your guy is and start accessing current talent/needs right now!!

Sorry Joe, I was digging for something, anything good. Lol you're right though, its hard to pick out individual highlights, everyone is to blame for this sloppy, half-assed 'program' that Shurmur is 'running'.
