Avon Scores ‘Excellent’ on School Report Card
District meets 100 percent of State Indicators.
Editor's Note: Comments and results on Avon Lake School District's Report Card results (Excellent with Distinction) will be posted on Monday, Oct. 22.
The results have been published and the Avon Local School District has again earned an “Excellent” rating from the Ohio Department of Education.
The Ohio Department of Education today released all of the preliminary data for the 2011-2012 state report cards on Oct. 18. The district has a 96.3 percent attendance rate, 106.70 Performance Index and 100 percent of State Indicators met.
Superintendent of Schools Mike Laub, who said based on previously released information he was expecting an “Excellent” rating, praised students and staff alike.
“We are certainly proud of our students and staff.” Laub said. “There is a great deal of hard work that goes in to earning that designation from the state and it is truly a team effort between home and school.”
Laub said the report cards provide the type of feedback that gives the district an opportunity to “recognize what we are doing well and at the same time gives us the opportunity to recognize what we would like to improve upon.”
School district personnel will be reviewing the information as a team to determine what is working in the district and what areas need improvement.
The school missed garnering the “with Distinction” honor since it “met” the growth standard expected by the state but did not “exceed” the expected growth.
The final data is on hold until the state completes an investigation into some districts’ attendance numbers.
