Cleveland Reads: The Lake Erie Monster
In the same vein as the classic Tales from the Crypt comes this month's CLE Read: The Lake Erie Monster, a Cleveland-based horror anthology comic book.
As a kid, I would often fall asleep reading old issues of Tales from the Crypt by the light of my flashlight. I loved their mix of horror and humor.
So when my local comic book shop - Elyria's Comics are Go! - introduced me to this month’s CLE Read The Lake Erie Monster, it scared up my childhood obsession with the Cryptkeeper and his grisly tales.
It's the 1970s in a polluted, decaying Cleveland. Locals are starting to turn up dead along Lake Erie's murky waters. And it's up to a pair of journalists, a group of nosey kids and a van of hippies to figure out the hideous truth lurking beneath the waves.

Written and illustrated by Cleveland artists John Greiner and Jake Kelly, this quarterly horror comic is a gory trip with a twisted sense of humor.
