2013 ALHS Grad Competing in Miss Teen Ohio This Weekend

Recent Avon Lake High School graduate Rachel Sodee, 18, is again competing in the Miss Ohio Teen contest. The 2013 ALHS graduate also competed last year.

Sodee will travel to Columbus on June 28 to compete at the state level of the Houston-based National American Miss pageant she performed well in last year.

“I was a finalist last year,” Sodee said. “I placed 15th out of 200 girls.”

Her parents, Leeanne and Robert will again attend the Columbus competition to watch her at the Columbus Hyatt. The competition runs from June 30-July 1, but Sodee plans to head down there a few days early to enjoy time with other girls competing.

“I’m doing two subcategories again, and hope to win one, Sodee said.

Sodee, who will be attending the University of Alabama in the fall to study English and pre-law, will be competing in the spokesmodel and casualwear subcategories.

Last year’s pageant provided Sodee with other benefits.

“It gave me a lot of self confidence and how to be confident with speaking,” she said. “Definitely with public speaking.”

The winner will be announced on July 1. If she is crowned Miss Ohio Teen 2013, she will win crown and sash, cash award, and an all-expense paid trip to California. She will also get to compete for the national title.
