This FREE community event is open to all area women and their teenage daughters.

“Women today even more than ever want to know they have simple yet effective skills to prevent an assault or stop a potentially dangerous situation like an physical attack” said Jeff Ellis, an 8th degree black belt with over 42 years of self-defense training experience.  “There is hardly a day that goes by that we don’t see a report on television or hear about an attack or abduction on the radio”.  There is a lot of fear for safety today.

Every 10-15 seconds, somewhere, somehow, a woman is being assaulted.  Often the woman is alone, unsure of how to react, uncertain how to protect herself, unable to stop the attack.

Just last month there was a reported incident of a man attempting to abduct a woman outside her home in North Royalton.   Fortunately, she was able to escape. Many victims do not escape and if the victim survives the attack she suffers with physical and emotional scars that can last a lifetime.

The “Don’t Be a Victim” workshop will focus on providing women valuable information regarding safety awareness, evading assault and self-defense skills.  The use of basic hand strikes, blocks, simple kicks, and easy ways to escape from grabs or holds are explored. Participants will learn in a safe, controlled environment and have FUN too!!

Last year’s Redwood PTA sponsored “Don’t Be A Victim” event conducted by Jeff Ellis had nearly 70 women in attendance.
