Meet local author and tutor Jan Sixt at the Avon Branch Library. Discover tips and techniques for helping your child become a lifetime learner Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. The author will have copies of her book available for purchase after the program. KNITTING AND CHROCHET CLUB

Adults and teens, join a community group of knitters and crocheters at the Avon Branch Library. The group meets on the first and second Friday of each month. Beginners and those with experience are all welcome to bring a current yarn project to work on, share ideas and help each other learn the basics or something new. Periodically, guest presenters will share instructions for special projects. See you Friday, Feb, 1 at 11 a.m. Preregistration is required by calling the Library at 440-934-4743.

VISIT WITH READY, WRESTLE AUTHOR BOB TIMOTEO

Get ready to meet Bob Timoteo, author of Ready, Wrestle, at the Avon Branch Library on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m. Timoteo is a retired Hawken Upper School (Chesterland, Ohio) football and wrestling coach, as well as a certified wrestling official. Ready, Wrestle is ideal for young readers. It is the story of a high school freshman’s enthusiasm for sports and his desire to participate on a school team. ADULT BOOK DISCUSSION

Join the adult book club at Lorain Public Library System’s Avon Branch Library to discuss the controversial book, God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything by Christopher Hitchens.
