Shades of Steel Will Perform at Avon Public Library

This week, the Avon Lake Public Library is announcing the drum performance of Shade of Steel. Also announced: Science and art activities for kids (because you know the first chorus of "I'm bored" is just around the corner) are available Sign up today. 

Summer Reading Begins

Children can take a Reading Road Trip @ Avon Lake Public Library, teens can follow their Passport to Adventure and adults will travel to Novel Destinations.  And it all begins Monday, June 6. Go to www.alpl.org and check out the exciting programs for all ages in our summer program booklet.

Wee Science Sampler

This one-hour program has hands-on activities designed just for kids ages 3-5, accompanied by an adult. These activities, all of which can be replicated at home, are designed to entertain and educate your little ones. Classes are Wednesday, June 8 at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. – choose one session.  Summerfest – Shades of Steel

Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a summer of “music on the lawn,” beginning Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m., with a concert by Shades of Steel.  This steel drum performance will include a wide range of musical styles such as Latin, Jazz, Top 40, Reggae and even a little Jimmy Buffet.  In case of rain, concert will be held indoors.

Jr. Tree House Club – Gone Fishing

Kids ages 6 and 7 are invited to join the Jr. Tree House Club on Tuesday, June 7 from 1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.  Make your own fishin’ pole and catch as many fish as you can.  Registration begins Wednesday, June 1 in DiscoveryWorks or by calling 440-933-7848.

Board Meeting

Avon Lake Public Library Board of Trustees meets Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. The 2012  budget hearing will take place during this meeting.  The meeting is open to the public.
