The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Ladies and Gentlemen, behold the releasing of the Perks of Being a Wallflower on to DVD!

If you have read the book the Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky then I'm sure you are as excited about the release of the movie on DVD.

And if you have not read the book, well then, I highly suggest that you do. The book relates to everyone in a different way. But I assure you that it will relate to you in someway.

"How do you know this?" you ask.

The first copy that I had recieved of the book was on my 15th birthday from my best friend. When I opened it up I noticed that he not only had written me a little note on the inside cover but he had also highlighted his favorite parts throughout the book.

That's when it all began.

Since then, I had highlighted my favorite parts. And then I had passed the book on to someone else who meant a lot to me and they highlighted, and so on.

Pretty soon most of all the pages were filled up with a variety of highlighter colors.

Throughout all of those people, each and every one of them had found something they related to.

Charlie will change your life in one way or another. And that's a promise.

However, the book is such a better story than the movie in my opinion. The movie rushes things to fast. There was so much detail that Chbosky had to work with and not enough movie time.

But I believe that he did the best he could with what he had and if that's how he wanted everyone to view it then I accept that.

The movie comes out on DVD today and I encourage all of you to watch it but P L E A S E read the book first.

You cannot read the book after you've watched the movie (I mean, you can - it just won't be as good). It'll take away the creative/imaginative mind that the book was written for you to use.

I recommend getting a copy of the book from Urban Outfitters in Crocker Park. They sell the copies with the somewhat original copy. Some copies have photos of the characters on the front cover and I believe just seeing what each of them look like already destroys a piece of the book itself.

I believe the book only costs $12-$16. But it's worth every penny.

I hope you also purchase a new highlighter to mark your favorite parts. And that you pass along to someone who means something to you.

I've recently given a highlighted copy of the book to my mum. I would've given her my copy, but I wanted her to have one of her own incase she ever wants to look back and reflect on it. You never know when the desire will come up. I've read the book over ten times within the past three-years and it still leaves me in awe every single time.

Lastly, the image displayed with this story is one that I had taken of my first copy of Perks.

(I did not actually destroy or damage my book in anyway. I used an app on my phone to create the effect. )
