5 Things: Pizza for Veterans, Bows, and 'A Christmas Cactus'

There’s plenty happening around town this Veteran’s Day weekend. Here are just a few things that might catch your eye.

  1. : Friday is , and what better way to celebrate than ordering pizza? Coleone’s Pizza in Avon is donating 25 percent of the profits from all pizzas ordered between noon and 8 p.m. on Friday to help restore a flag in commemorating 37 Avon Lake men who died in WWI, sponsored by the Avon Lake Landmark Preservation Society.
  2. : Just because it’s getting chilly doesn’t mean you can’t get local produce. Stop by Crocker Park Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the weekly North Union Famer’s Market. Right now, apples, squash, broccoli, potatoes, onions, lettuce and, of course, pumpkins are in season.
  3. : The is hosting professional crafter and author Annabelle Keller Saturday, Nov. 12 from 1-3 p.m. for Bows and More, bow-making class for gift packaging and holiday wreaths. Pre-registration is $18 and required.
  4. : The Clague Playhouse is peforming “A Christmas Cactus,” an uplifting, contemporary Christmas play, Sunday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $16, and more weekend dates throughout the holiday season are scheduled.
  5. . The Weather Channel is predicting sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s on Saturday, so put on a warm sweater, pack a thermos of hot apple cider and head to Inwood Park to enjoy the great outdoors while they’re still great.
