As Catherine's Chocolates Closes, Historic Building Awaits New Tenant

Pre-civil war building has been completely remodeled.

Correction: This article initially stated that the available building was co-owned by Jason Smith of J.L. Smith. Dave Vasu is the sole owner of the building.

The historic building that housed Catherine’s Chocolates  on Detroit Road in Avon for the past five years is available for a new commerical venture.

“I retired at the end of January,” owner Catherine Pastron said outside the store last week. She sold specialty chocolates at the boutique chocolate store.

On the store’s Facebook page Paston said “I closed and am not looking to open at another location. I may look at working with a few locations on a wholesale basis to them.” She said she would post locations of where her chocolates could be purchased in the future.

The historic building is now available.

Dave Vasu, who owns the building at 36718 Detroit Rd. said the building comes with some history.

“It has 4,000-sq-ft. and it meets commercial specs,” Vasu said.

The third level can be used for office space and/or living quarters.

The building also contains lifetimes of history.

Constructed in the 1800s, the pre-civil war building is a historic landmark.

“We have a plaque for outside, but it’s not up right now,” Vasu said.  “It’s a century home and it’s pristine inside.”

The interior has been totally remodeled to accommodate a commercial venture. Interested parties can contact Vasu at 216-276-0174.
