Tell Us How You'd Fill This Storefront: The Former Tucky’s

What type of business would work here?

Last week we asked readers that formerly housed Tops Market. It is one of the city’s longest-standing – and most obvious – empty buildings.

And you responded. We had more than 60 comments on what type of business would work in the large spot. Readers also shared plenty of reasons and blame as to why the building has been empty for so long.

This week we’re moving to the /Learwood Plaza where one of the newest vacancies is, the former building.

Some history about the building. The two business that preceded Tucky’s were both coffee houses: Arabica and bean. It may be a good assumption that this location would not be ideal for a coffee house. How about a donut store? Consignment shop?

Unlike the Tops building, this location is slightly hidden. When the strip of stores were built about a decade ago, zoning requested that a landscaped mound be built as a courtesy to the longer-standing houses across the street. It may not have helped the businesses in that location.
