Want to Start a Business? Avon Lake Workshops Will Show You How

Admit it. You’ve been thinking about starting your business for a long time. If you think Avon Lake is the perfect place to start a business or you’re interested in growing an already established business, a free workshop is being offered at the

Avon Lake’s Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB), in conjunction with the library and the new Small Business Resource Connection, is hosting two Simple Steps for Starting a Business workshops at Avon Lake Public Library. Entrepreneurs can attend either Wednesday, June 8 or Wednesday June 22. The workshops, which will cover topics including planning, marketing, finance and funding a business, are presented by the Cleveland Chapter of SCORE.

SCORE is a national program of business savvy volunteers who assist in business creation, start up assistance and ongoing mentoring. Its goal is to drive innovation, create jobs and increase U.S. competitiveness.

Both sessions will be from 6: p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

EDAB Chairman Joe Archacki said the program is another part of small business support that the Avon Lake is providing to assist small business in retention, growth and jobs. SCORE presenters include CEOs, CPAs and managers who can answer any question about business.

“This is the second year for entrepreneur workshops with SCORE in Avon Lake,” Archacki said. “The first one last October was a huge success with the graduation of 14 entrepreneurs. We want to assist in the creation of new jobs for Avon Lake.”

He also touted Avon Lake and the county as an ideal place to run a business.

“We continue to look for ways to help our small business grow and to assist in job creation,” Archacki said. “We want to expand our partnership with SCORE this year and start some new small businesses. Together, Avon Lake and Lorain County have great resources to make this happen.”
