Award Winning Local Television

Our very own local ALCTV received a national award, The Philo T. Farnsworth Award, “Empowerment/Inspirational (Non-professional)” for the episode “Issues and Opinions, Bullying Part 2”.

The award is the first ever for ALCTV!  Each year the annual media competition of the Philo Festival of Media Arts is co-hosted with the Public Media Network, the award was presented by the Alliance for Community Media of Central States Region (Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky).  This year’s event was held in Kalamazoo, MI; the award was presented by City Council to Mary Pajak and Carol Murphy of the Cable Advisory Commission.  Carol was also the host and moderator for the award winning episode.

The award is a national honor as all cable stations can submit their programming for award consideration; our award is for Second Prize in the category of “Empowerment/Inspirational” (non-professional).  Carol Murphy states, “This was ALCTV’s first attempt at doing something different in our programming and in submitting the episode for award consideration.”     Carol has been a member of the Cable Advisor Board for 15 years and the ALC Producer of the show “Leading The Way Home” for 16 years.  She is a long-time member of the Avon Lake/Avon Chamber and is a Past President of the Chamber.
