Father wants to dispel rumors that Thomas Maloy has died

A Lorain man is slowly recovering after being  the evening of April 26.

Thomas Maloy, 21, remained in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland as of Friday afternoon, a hospital spokesperson said.

Maloy's father, Thomas Sr., said his son knows where he is, and is speaking short phrases to let them know his head hurts and that he wants to go home.

"Just for him to be breathing after that crash, it's amazing to me," the elder Maloy said.

Maloy was driving his 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Interstate 90 when he lost control of the bike about a half-mile west of Exit 153 for Route 83. Maloy, who was not wearing a helmet, fell off the bike and both he and the bike went off the road. He suffered face and head injuries, and was taken to MetroHealth by LifeFlight helicopter from . are investigating the crash

While Thomas Sr. is thrilled at his son's survival, he was also upset by erroneous reports, including rumors on Facebook by people claiming to know the family, that his son had died. So he was trying to get the word out Friday that his son was not dead.

"Keep praying for my son," he said. "He has a long way to go."
