Tornado Watch For Lorain County Until 9 p.m.

14 counties in north central Ohio are under watch.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Lorain County, effective through 9 p.m.

According to weather.com, a severe thunderstorm watch outlines an area where an organized threat of thunderstorms containing penny-size hail or large and/or damaging/destructive winds are expected during (generally) a three to six hour period.
A tornado watch includes the large hail and damaging wind threats, as well as the possibility of multiple tornadoes.

The watch issued in Ohio includes 14 counties in north central Ohio.

The Huffington Post is reporting that at least nine people have been killed in tornadoes that ripped through the Midwest early this morning.

"A powerful storm system that produced multiple reports of tornadoes lashed the Midwest early Wednesday, roughing up the entertainment resort town of Branson and laying waste to small towns in Illinois and Kansas,” the Huffington Post reported.

AOL Weather is also reporting scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day with a high near 56 for Avon Lake.
