Dimitri L. LaZaroff, Photographer

Member of the exclusive Cameracraftsmen of America group.

Dimitri L. LaZaroff, 87 of Avon Lake, formerly of Rochester Hills, MI passed away on Nov. 27, 2012 at Metro Health Medical Center. Dimitri was born in Detroit on July 6, 1925.

He was a WWII Veteran where he served with the Army Air Corp as a pilot.

Dimitri was a self-employed photographer and business owner of LaZaroff Photography. He earned his Master of Photography from the Professional Photographers of America and was a national photographic competition judge. He was honored with many state and national awards and was twice named Photographer of the Year in Michigan.

Dimitri was a member of the exclusive Cameracraftsmen of America group and served as the club's secretary for many years. He taught photography and continued to enjoy his lifelong passion as a hobby after retirement. Dimitri was a member of St. Paul's U.M.C. in Rochester Hills. He enjoyed writing and corresponding with friends and was active with the Rocky River Senior Center.

He is survived by his children Jim LaZaroff (Paula) of Cleveland, OK and Tonya Haddad (Jim) of Avon Lake; grandchildren Lindsey LaZaroff, Anthony Haddad (Lindsey), and Michael Haddad; sister Lillian (Bob) Ryeson of Clarkston, MI and sister-in-law Nadine Lazaroff. He is preceded in death by his wife Florence (nee Voydanoff), parents Lazarus and Vasilka (nee Afterjieff) and brother Ted Lazaroff.

A celebration of Dimitri's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake with a light reception following the service.

Services are at 11:30 am on Saturday, Dec. 8 at Perry Mount Park Cemetery Chapel, 878 N. Perry St., Pontiac, MI with Reverend Joanne Bartelt officiating.

Memorial contributions may be forwarded to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
