Elaine Dieterich, Former Head Cook for Avon Lake Schools

Former member of Saddle Club and Lorain County Fair

Elaine Dieterich (nee Gates), 85, of Avon Lake, passed away on Jan. 29, 2013 after a short illness. She was born on June 30, 1927 in Avon Lake.

Elaine graduated from Avon Lake High School. She was a head cook for the Avon Lake City Schools for 35 years. Elaine was a member of the Avon Lake Saddle Club and a member of the Lorain County Fair for 50 years. She loved Ireland and her favorite animals included horses and cats.

Elaine's survivors include her daughter, Becki Kidder (Tom) of Avon Lake; brother Lawrence Gates (Lillian deceased) of Avon Lake; grandchildren Colleen Siegert (Eric), Laura Weakland (Bruce), Jill Carpenter (Mike), and Brandon Gates; great-grandchildren Austin, Brooke, Blake, Jacob, and Jenna; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by parents, Gervas and Mary Ann Gates; husband of 42 years Rolland Dieterich; and son David Dieterich.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake from 4 p.m. -8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4. Funeral service will take place at the funeral home Tuesday, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
