Frank J. "Pete" Lee, 95, Formerly of Avon Lake: Obituary

Frank J. "Pete" Lee, 95 of Vermilion, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. Mary of the Woods, Avon. 

He was born on December 12, 1917 in Belleville, New Jersey. Pete was a Captain in the Army during WWII and during his services he received a purple heart with an oak leaf cluster. During his time in the service he served in the 112th Cavalry unit in the Pacific. Pete was also serving during D-Day. After the Army he continued his education where he received a Bachelor's Degree from Mount Union College and a MBA from New York University. 

Pete was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Vermilion and a member of the Sr. Fellowship Club. He was formerly a member of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake. His interests included playing golf and bridge, reading, and telling shaggy dog jokes.

Pete is survived by his children, Peggi Yeager (Bob) of Louisville, KY, Terry Schmidt (Charlie) of Portsmouth, VA, Frank (Barb) of Avon Lake, Jim (Lisa) of Divide, CO, and Carol Lee of Vermilion; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr. and Teresa (nee Burke) and his beloved wife, Dorothy J. "Jean" (nee Elton) in 2011.

Funeral Mass in the Chapel at St. Mary of the Woods, 35755 Detroit Road, Avon, with Father Ron Brickner of St. Mary's Church, Vermilion presiding on Monday, July 1st at 1pm.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Avon. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to St. Mary's School, 5450 Ohio Street, Vermilion 44089.
