Raymond B. Stanziano, Former Lorain Police Detective: Obituary

Services held Sunday and Monday for retired Sgt. and member of St. Joseph Church

Avon Lake resident and former Lorain Police detective Sgt. Raymond B. Stanziano, 73, died unexpectedly July 25, according to Busch Funeral Home.

Stanziano, a Lorain High School graduate who was born April 9, 1940, moved to Avon Lake 12 years ago. He retired from the Lorain Police Department in 1991 after 25 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Fraternal Order of Police and an active golfer.

He is survived by his children, Kim Brown (Jim) of Largo, FL, Mark of Palm Coast, FL, and Mary Kay D'Orazio (Dan) of Avon Lake; 6 grandsons, Daevid, Rob, R.J., Zachary, Jordan, and Lucas; and sister Loretta Balogh (Steve) of Vermilion. Other survivors include his brother-in-law Robert Krajeski (Gloria) of Elyria and many nieces and nephews. 

Stanziano is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Catherine A. (nee Krajeski) who passed away, May 25, 2012; his parents Henry and Irene (nee Toth) and a brother Ted (Helen) of Amherst.

Calling hours held Sunday, July 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Busch Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake at 10 a.m. Monday. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Avon.
